Vintage 1978-80 Fender Jazz Bass Neck w/ Tuners & String Tree. Fantastic playing vintage Fender Jazz Bass neck with the original tuners and string tree!
The serial # starting in "S8" indicates 1978 to most people, but the stamp on the butt of the neck indicates 1980 0202 12. 2, so I'm calling it a 1978-80 Jazz Bass neck. It shows its share of wear, scratches and dings for its age, but it's a very solid neck structurally with no issues. There are a couple spots on the back of the neck that you can feel, but they never bothered me while playing enough to want to sand them smoother or anything. It's easy enough to do though if you wish to.
The frets are original and in very good shape with lots of life left (this neck definitely wore flatwounds most of its life). This neck is very straight and the "bullet" truss rod woks well with plenty of room for adjustment. The factory "micro-tilt" is intact in the heel. I was able to get very low, smooth action with every note ringing out nicely across the board. The tuners and string tree guide are also original and included in the sale.
The previous owner engraved his name and SS # on the each of the tuner clovers. Kind of cool history on an old vintage neck. All the tuners function smoothly and are straight.Check out my other listings for more cool bass stuff! I will respond to all emails as soon as possible.
