The chromed steel has faded a bit to more of a vintage patina. There is no rust or corrosion anywhere. I didn't even notice it until taking pictures in the bright sunlight, but one of the gear bolts has been replaced.

All the tuners work as well with new, turning fairly smoothly. To be honest, these tuners were never perfectly smooth when they were brand new, but at least they still do the job as well as they ever did. Installation Notes - READ THIS! Screw the tuners in with the included screws.

These tuners fit 1970s Fender bass guitar necks with 11/16 tuner holes. Check your neck - measure the tuner holes and check the tuner screw holes too.

Earlier tuners mounted with three screw holes, these tuners use four screws. The upper screw holes are 1 + 1/8" apart, while the bottom screw holes are 7/8" apart. The tuners use bushings that are 7/8" wide at their top and 5/8" wide at the bottom, while the tuners have shafts that are 0.55" (14mm) wide and 1.2" (31 mm) tall. Finally, these tuners will only fit right-handed bass guitars.

That really means they tried to install them on a neck and didn't do their homework. The four Fender bass guitar tuners and their 16 original mounting screws.
